Why Semiconductors — The Founding Story

For most of his career, Vikas worked across technology hiring — placing engineers and specialists across IT, embedded, digital, and AI/ML functions. Over time, he saw a different opportunity emerging: India’s semiconductor ecosystem was beginning to scale rapidly.

The launch of the India Semiconductor Mission, the Chip to Startups (C2S) programme, the Design-Linked Incentive scheme, and new fab and ATMP investments signalled the rise of an entirely new industrial ecosystem in India.

What stood out was the hiring gap it created.

Semiconductor hiring is fundamentally different from IT hiring. The roles are more specialised, the talent pool is smaller, and the impact of a wrong hire is far greater — often affecting project timelines, tape-outs, and product schedules.

And yet, many organisations were still approaching semiconductor hiring with generalist methods.

That gap led to the creation of Screen2Hire — a focused semiconductor hiring practice built around domain understanding, active candidate relationships, and specialist search.

To deepen that foundation, Vikas completed a Semiconductor Technology Workshop at IIT BHU, Varanasi — building stronger familiarity with semiconductor design flows, technologies, and the ecosystem powering them.
